Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is characterized by weakness, burning pain, tingling and/or numbness in the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring fingers. Some people with CTS say that their fingers feel useless and swollen, even though little or no swelling is apparent.

The Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

CTS can be caused by repetitive motion that puts stress on your hands, wrists, forearms, shoulders, and neck.

How Our Doctors Can Help You

Carpal tunnel syndrome, by traditional definition, is an entrapment of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel. Typical treatments focus on the entrapment of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel area. However, additional entrapment areas of the upper arm and the forearm are often overlooked. Our knowledge of soft tissues and how the many bones of the arm and hand function can enhance our thorough examination in order to determine where the problem is coming from–there are 27 bones in the hand alone. Specific chiropractic manipulation (adjustments) can be made to your bones to enhance their function.

If inflammation and/or scar tissue formation is present, we offer a variety of therapies that can address the issues, such as Graston Technique and Ultrasound Therapy.  Lastly, your workstation and daily activities will be discussed, as well as specific exercises that can contribute to lasting results.
